The North Shore of Long Island

This area includes the towns of Cutchogue, Mattituck, and Jamesport. The southern shore is the Peconic Bay while the northern shore is the Long Island sound.

Located at the far eastern point of the south shore of Long Island, Montauk has the Atlantic  ocean at the southern shore with the Block Island Sound to the north.

West of Southampton and east of Riverhead, Hampton Bays has a major watercraft conduit between the Atlantic ocean and the Great Peconic Bay.

Participants - Community, For-Profit, and Non-Profit:

Participants get their building, vehicle or other promotional element (ex. ReMax hot air balloon) expertly illustrated in highly-crafted detail.  Businesses that work on a for-profit basis fall under the category of paying participants (cost to participate is below or go here).
PLEASE NOTE: In the interest of the integrity of the map, for-profit participation is limited to 75 businesses, so sign up soon!
As the Maptown Project is about community, the following business categories are exempt from payment and will be included in the map free of  charge:

  • museums

  • churches

  • libraries

  • fire and police stations

  • community centers

  • non-profit businesses (While we will endeavor to place as many non-profits as possible, Maptown reserves the right to omit non-profits in the event their inclusion is adversely impeding the design or integration of for-profit businesses that are participating.) Non-profit businesses MUST sign up for participation if they wish to be included as Maptown may permit.

Perfectly Recreated Signage with Phone, Email, or Web Address

We are developing signage to be accurate and digitally perfect to your existing signage. If it's not, we'll fix it until it is.
We will be including a contact line in each business that participates. Whether you would like you phone number, email, or web address, we'll put it in there for you. 

Dates of Delivery

Currently, Maptown Project is in hiatus while the owner/creative director is engage with a start-up commitment. That project is ongoing but once concluded, Maptown Project will pick up where it left off, which is the completion of Honesdale, followed by the commencement of Hawley and Milford. Blog updates will be reinstated once progress has been registered and the Maptown Project train is rolling again. So, please stay tuned!

A gallery-quality print for you to enjoy personally or provide as a gift or keepsake. 

This print is suitable for framing in your business, home, or a community location.
Prints are at least 20" x 30", digitally produced on acid-free paper, and will retain color quality for years to come.
Please note that while any non-profit businesses that are included in the map free-of-charge, 20"x 30" printed maps are not included with sign-up for participation by non-profit businesses. They can, however, be purchased separately from the Maptown Project SHOP found here

It’s a promotional and advertising investment that is viewed and enjoyed for years.

Dollar-for-dollar, your town map will outlast any other advertising media, making it a great long-term investment.
Historically, Maptown Project maps have proven to be resilient keepsakes and promotional mementos that provide town residents, business owners, and tourists years of fun and interesting way to learn about your town. Your business will be finely rendered with perfect replication of your business signage with either phone or email. 

For an additional $75, you’ll get an advertisement of your business on large, full-color brochures featuring the map and fun facts about your town.

You will be listed in these full-color quad-fold brochures, which will be available through your town's Chamber of Commerce and/or business development organization. These brochures will provide high-impact promotional benefit, driving local and visitor interest to YOUR business.

Get specialty products through the Maptown Project SHOP for retailers or just for you and your customers.

You and your business can order specialty items that are specific and tailored to feature your participation in your town's map. 
Some examples are mugs, placemats, additional posters, coasters, T-shirts, and postcards. Please visit our shop HERE.  These specialty products can be retailed or just enjoyed with your customers, bringing even greater long-term exposure to your businesses and the community as a whole.

What does it cost to participate?

$300 for all For-Profit businesses with a 15% discount for multiple locations/businesses
$75 to participate in the An advertisement of your business on large, full-color brochures featuring the map and fun facts about your town.

FREE for Public buildings, community centers, museums, fire/police stations, libraries, churches, non-profits businesses (as space and design permits).

For design reasons, Maptown Projects are limited to no more than 75 participants per town,

Scott Mowry - Maptown Project Founder and Creative Director

Scott graduated with a degree in Illustration from Pratt Institute and has been involved in creative product development throughout his career. After working as an illustrator in publishing and advertising, Scott transitioned into the digital arts and creative team management. After 15 years as the digital design director at famed children's publisher Highlights for Children, Scott has directed development of digital products in creative industries for consumer, e-commerce, advertising, interactive arts, film/audio/video, and more. 

Scott is a dual-resident of Honesdale, PA where he lives on Main Street with his wife, Joelle, and daughter, Nika, and Hawley, PA, where he maintains a house studio on Stonybrook Lake (a.k.a. House Pond).
